The Scots College is an independent day and boarding school for boys from early learning to Year 12, located primarily at Bellevue Hill in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. Founded in 1893 at Brighton-Le-Sands by Archibald Gilchrist, William Dill-Macky and Arthur Aspinall, the school later moved to its long term site at Bellevue Hill and became part of the Presbyterian education system. Scots has a non selective enrolment policy and educates around 1,800 students across multiple campuses that include Bellevue Hill, Brighton, Glengarry and Bannockburn. It is affiliated with several national and international associations of independent schools and is a founding member of the Athletic Association of the Great Public Schools of New South Wales.
The college is known for its extensive facilities, longstanding traditions and strong programs in academics, music, outdoor education and GPS sport. Glengarry, its residential campus in the Kangaroo Valley, forms a distinctive part of the Year 9 programme and has been central to the school’s outdoor and character education since 1988. Scots maintains an active alumni community through the Scots College Old Boys’ Union, and former students have gone on to significant careers in fields including business, politics, science, media, medicine and professional sport.
